Stronger chrysanthemums start with healthy roots
How does strong root development contribute to a more resilient crop?
In a recent grower story, our distributor Van Iperen shares how Vici Fix was introduced at chrysanthemum nursery Rubens and the results achieved in practice.
Like many growers, the team at Rubens continuously looks for ways to improve crop resilience. After facing increasing pressure from root-knot nematodes, they focused on strengthening the crop from the root zone upwards. As part of their integrated growing strategy, a trial with Vici Fix was carried out in collaboration with Van Iperen, Koppert and REKA.
The trial compared treated and untreated sections under identical growing conditions. According to both the grower and the technical specialists involved, the differences were clearly visible. Plants treated with Vici Fix developed a stronger root system and showed improved plant vigour, resulting in a healthier and more resilient crop.
Vici Fix contains spores of an arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus, which colonises and extends the root system. This helps plants improve water and nutrient uptake while increasing tolerance to environmental stresses such as drought, heat and salinity. The product is produced in vitro, ensuring a high-quality, pathogen-free formulation with a high concentration of viable spores.
Following the successful trial, Vici Fix has become a standard part of the cultivation programme at Rubens. According to the grower, consistent use over multiple crop cycles has further enhanced its performance, contributing to healthier crops and greater resilience throughout the growing season.
